Precautions to be taken during storage of Cotton crop

• The storage area should be clean, tidy, and free from moisture. Do not store cotton in newly constructed rooms. If the crop is damp, ensure it is properly dried before storage.
• During storage, remove any raw or green cotton bolls, tangled, damaged cotton bolls, and any kind of adulteration from the cotton harvest.
• Keep the door of the storage room closed to prevent contamination from items such as colored threads, hair, plastic bag threads, jute bags, polythene bags, leaves, pieces of cloth, waste paper, etc.
• Store the harvest of different varieties and different pickings separately.
