Ludhiana, August 3
The Punjab Agricultural University has entered into agreement with four industries namely, Ishwar Farmline Equipments, Sangrur, M/s K.S. Agriculture Works, Barnala, Preet Agro Industry, Nabha and Panesar Agriculture Industries, Barnala for commercialization of “PAU Super SMS” Technology. Dr Navtej Singh Bains, Director of Research, PAU and representatives of the industries signed the MoA on behalf of their respective organizations, in the presence of PAU Vice Chancellor, Dr Baldev Singh Dhillon.
Dr Manjeet Singh, Head, Department of Farm Machinery and Power Engineering informed that the “PAU Super SMS” is a unique attachment for combine harvesters which cuts, chops and uniformly spreads loose straw coming out of the harvester during harvesting of paddy. The machine will facilitate the operations of other in situ straw management machinery like happy seeder, spatial no till drill mould board plough etc, which will ultimately stop the burning of paddy straw and help farmers enhance soil productivity with in situ paddy straw management. Dr Singh also revealed that a subsidy of Rs. 50,000 was being given per attachment to the farmers for installation of Super SMS with their combine harvesters.
It may be mentioned that till date 13 organizations/ firms have taken the license of PAU Super SMS Technology.
